The Burrard Gateway Project is apparently full steam ahead with its design process completed and just waiting city approval. The $500-million project by Reliance Properties and Jim Pattison Developments submitted its rezoning application quite recently and are very anxious to start construction.


The current site around the corner of Drake and Burrard Downtown Vancouver has a Jim Pattison Toyota Dealership, two small non-heritage homes and a couple smaller commercial buildings. This massive change to the relatively quiet corner will be a huge influence for an increase of traffic and noise. Reliance has also acquired the 7-11 at the corner of Horby and Davie and a fourth 12 storey tower might be included in this project.


The pending approval for the city rezoning application is:


  • 54-storey tower, 36-storey tower with a 7-storey podium providing retail, office and residential uses along Hornby Street.
  • 14-storey tower with 3-storey automotive dealership along Burrard
  • 810 residential units
  • maximum height of 525.7 ft
